Joel 1:5 Awake, drunkards, and weep; and howl, all drinkers of wine, because of the new wine; for it is cut off from your mouth.
All sin intoxicates the mind, perverts the judgment, dulls the conscience, blinds the soul and makes it insensible to its own ills. All the passions, anger, vain glory, ambition, avarice and the rest are a spiritual drunkenness, inebriating the soul, as strong drink does the body. :
Joel 2:12 Yet even now, says Jehovah, turn to Me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning.
Joel 2:13 Yes, tear your heart and not your robes, and turn to Jehovah your God: for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and He pities because of the evil.
Turn to God with all your heart, your mind, soul, spirit, and affections. For He is the Lord of the all. Blessed are those who know they are poor in spirit.
